The Community Development Division Office is located east of City Hall on Lawrence Street at the corner of Alexander Street- across from the U.S. Post Office.
The City of Marietta receives Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Community Development (HUD) annually. The Community Development Division administers the funds in projects that assist City residents to obtain homeownership and maintain their existing homes.
CDBG funds support Housing Rehabilitation opportunities to Low- and Moderate-Income (LMI) Marietta homeowners;
- Minor home repair grant
Minor home repair grant (MHR-Grant): Up to $5,000 one-time grant per eligible City of Marietta owner-occupied household. Limited to households with income at or below the current 50% Income Limit for Cobb County.
Addresses deficiencies that pose an immediate threat and/or of a dangerous nature such as roof leaks, furnace systems, water heaters, HVAC systems and plumbing leaks.
- Short-Term Deferred Payment Loan
Deferred Payment Loan (DPL): Costs in excess of $5,000 to correct code and incipient deficiencies in the home. This loan must be secured by a deed to secure debt and a promissory note.
CDBG funds support First-Time Homebuyers efforts to acquire homes in the City of Marietta
- Provides financial assistance to families seeking to become a new Marietta resident homeowner.
- Eligible families may be provided Down Payment Assistance (DPA); Closing Costs; or Rehabilitation after Acquisition.
- Assistance is determined based upon individual family needs.
